Kiko Alonso

Just as with Cook, the Saints brought in Zack Baun to be the next leader of the linebacking corps. While it may not be Kiko Alonso that gets shed, it’s either going to be Alonso or Alex Anzalone, and while the latter has had injury concerns, he presents far more upside given his youth.

That’s why Alonso, who saw a tremendous dip in his numbers upon arriving in the Big Easy, may get the boot. Both will likely be looking at discount offers, especially if they want to stay. Their market isn’t strong.

Alonso, who came to New Orleans off three straight 100 tackles seasons, totaled just four starts and 31 combined tackles. He must be better to get any resemblance of a contract he’d agree to.

That said, we can go ahead and assume Alonso’s second year with the Saints will also be his last.

The team may like to bring back all three, but the fact of the matter is there just isn’t space. Kamara is the most likely to be re-signed or extended, but for now, even that is up in the air.
