Alvin Kamara

The Saints have Latavius Murray locked up for two more seasons after this upcoming one. With three more seasons in the Big Easy, he’d make it easier for the team not to give Alvin Kamara the contract he wants.

Does Kamara deserve that contract in a dwindling free agency market?

If you ask everyone in the clubhouse, I’m sure that answer is yes, but extending running backs is far from easy. Kamara had two seasons to kick off his career in which he totaled over 1,500 all-purpose yards.

Last season, playing at seemingly 75% for most of the year, Kamara struggled, only starting nine games and recording a lowly five touchdowns. He must be better to get that new deal, but given his youth and proven dominance, it’d be tough to see him go.

Also, Kamara may be a crucial piece to the puzzle when Drew Brees’ retires which could be in the near future. His playmaking has led the Saints, but without being a bargain deal, it may be tough to ensure he stays a Saint with a capable backup behind him.
