3 players the Saints shouldn’t have moved on from in 2020

LB, A.J. Klein

We all know the linebacker issues that New Orleans has had over the course of the last couple of years. From injuries to players not panning out, the Saints have needed every one of their linebackers at some point in the season.

A.J. Klein was a starting linebacker for the Saints last season. He ended up leaving in the offseason and signing a 3-year $18 million contract with the Buffalo Bills. Klein might be one of the biggest mistakes of New Orleans offseason.

He was one of the top linebackers for the Saints last year, and the team opted to not even replace him with anyone.

They will get Alex Anzalone back from injury, but they only signed one linebacker in free agency (Chickillo) and one in the draft (Baun). This team’s linebacking corps is thin, and they’ll miss Klein if anything happens to the injury-prone Anzalone.

Neither one of those players will compare to Klein’s stats last season. I think the Saints should have used the money to keep Klein. Now, the team will be back in the same boat they have been in for years continuing in 2020.
