Alex Anzalone

Alex Anzalone has had injury problems for the last couple of years. He missed all last season because of it. Anzalone should definitely opt-out of this season because he shouldn’t have to play his “make it or break it” season under these circumstances.

The reason I call it his “make it or break it” season is because, like Rankins, Anzalone is in his contract year as well. If he gets injured again, it could be the end of his career not only with the Saints but in the entire NFL.

If Anzalone opts-out this season, he will still collect $150,000 for a non-medical reason. He could possibly get it covered as a medical reason and not get an accrued season to go straight into his new contract and add an additional $200,000 on the year.

Alex Anzalone has a potential for a major rebirth without any injuries, but he needs a season injury-free. The best chance he has at that is if he opts-out of this season and prepares for the next chance he gets with or without a new contract.
