Taysom Hill

For the amount of stats that Taysom Hill puts up per year, his contract is one of the worst on the Saints roster, unless, that is, they plan to majorly increase his usage this coming season which is possible.

The team just got rid of Larry Warford, a Pro Bowler, because he made too much money — could Hill be next?

For some reason, toward the end of last year, Hill was all the rage.

Economically speaking, in football you need to sell high and buy low, that is the name of the game. Hill is at a high right now as many may have considered him the best man on the field for New Orleans wild card playoff game, so it might be time for the Saints to test the market.

They already sort of tested it this offseason when Hill was a restricted free agent. They put a first-round tender on him which not one team in the NFL bit on. Therefore, we at least know the Saints won’t get a first-round pick for Hill.

He is one of a kind and that makes him attractive. He can throw, run, and catch. Now, the franchise did bring in another Swiss Army knife in Ty Montgomery, but he doesn’t really throw the ball that’s the biggest difference.

Although, Hill doesn’t either really. He might have the ability to, but over the course of the past couple of years, he hasn’t even thrown a dozen completions. In my opinion, now is the perfect time to try and trade Hill before his value depreciates.

Malcolm and/or Janoris Jenkins

Either Malcolm and/or Janoris Jenkins could be potential trades for the Saints. Janoris Jenkins came in last season to spell Eli Apple after he got hurt and ended up signing a longer deal with the Saints than originally expected.

Malcolm Jenkins, on the other hand, was brought in from Philadelphia to replace the departing Vonn Bell at the safety position. Either way, the Saints have potential backups to these players that would allow for a smooth transition out.

The biggest difference is that they would probably need a cornerback to replace Janoris Jenkins, but they would not need another safety to replace Malcolm Jenkins; they could just get a haul of picks for the veteran.

Ever since coming into New Orleans, all Malcolm Jenkins has done is talk and talk some more. The bigger distraction he causes in the locker room, the bigger chance the Saints don’t reach their end goal of a Super Bowl.

Plus, as a veteran, the more they keep him, the lower his value. The ideal time to trade is now.
