Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston is a talented quarterback, and he will learn a lot under the Saints offense. However, I don’t see it likely that Sean Payton will be having their Super Bowl chances in 2021 lying in the hands of a 2nd year Saint, Jameis Winston, who threw 30 interceptions in 2019.

Winston is a former No. 1 pick, and he has a cannon for an arm. He led the whole league in passing yards last season, and he’s been a great leader for the Buccaneers.

Winston could do really well in the Saints offense. Bridgewater went 5-0 in a Saints uniform, and Winston has a more talented arm than Bridgewater, despite other intangibles that Teddy carries.

I still don’t know if he’s ready to be a quarterback that can be efficient on a 2-minute drive or win a big playoff game though. His turnover habits will take some time to adjust, and his accuracy is a work in progress.

Winston will be going into his first season as a Saint, and their offense is very complex. Bridgewater had issues with pass protection and his cadence in 2019, and that was his second season.

I don’t see Winston carrying the Saints team in 2021 when their roster is positioned to win a Super Bowl, so they need a savvy veteran to be smart and big plays at the same time. Let’s see who else is primed to earn the Saints starting quarterback spot
