Minnesota Vikings

New Orleans and Minnesota dueled it out in the playoffs last year for the 2nd time in three years. The Saints record is a lousy 0-2 in those playoff contests. The Saints also lost heartbreakingly in both of those games.

The Minneapolis Miracle occurred in 2018, while the Saints lost in overtime in the dome in 2020.

Sean Payton will have his team prepared to fire at all cylinders coming into their next match up. The frustrating aspect is that the Vikings are a far less talented team, but they give Drew Brees serious struggles.

Everybody in New Orleans knows that Brees won’t turn the ball over twice against the Vikings next time.

Quarterback Taysom Hill completed a bomb to Michael Thomas over Harrison Smith’s head in the 2018 regular-season contest against the Vikings. He completed another bomb to Deonte Harris in the playoff match last year, over Harrison Smith’s coverage.

Sean Payton may know to play the quarterback quickly this year, if Brees Struggles against his kryptonite opponent.

The worst part about the playoff matchup last year is that the Vikings were expected to lose by seemingly everybody watching, but they not only ended up with the win, they physically pounded the Saints and Drew Brees. Brees didn’t help his case by committing two turnovers.

After the game last year, the wide receiver who caused the Minneapolis Miracle, gave some grief to Sean Payton. Stefon Diggs did the choppa style dance to Sean Payton’s face on the field after the game last year, and Kirk Cousins yelled, “you like that” in the locker room after the big win.

Expect those images to be tormenting the fiery Saints head coach who went out to draft a first-round lineman after the Vikings pass rush harassed Drew Brees in that game. Everybody in New Orleans will be anticipating a big fight between the two NFC teams come Christmas day.
