Griffen would give Saints elite defensive line

The main reason behind adding Everson Griffen is because he’s a dominant defensive end, and sometimes, that’s all you need to know. As aforementioned, Griffen has been a sacking machine since joining the Vikings’ starting unit in 2014.

He has recorded four Pro Bowl appearances and three double-digit sacks seasons in the last half a decade. On top of that, his durability should be noted, playing in at least 15 games in five of his last six seasons.

Griffen, despite being 32, could be a short-term solution for the Saints. Davenport is still the long-term answer, but having Cam Jordan and Griffen on the line same would spell trouble for non-mobile NFC South quarterbacks like Matt Ryan and Tom Brady.

Griffen averaged more quarterback hits per game than Jordan, and while his sacks were down, he was still considered a premier pass rusher. Athlon Sports considers Griffen a top-15 pass rusher in the NFL.

Overall, Griffen, at the right price would be a worth-while addition.
