The New Orleans Saints have had an incredible offseason, and it may continue if they opt to target Vikings’ defensive end, Everson Griffen.

This offseason has improved the New Orleans Saints, especially the team’s defense.

The Saints added safety Malcolm Jenkins in the secondary and linebacker Zack Baun in the middle of the field. Those two will help the team’s defense, but rusher Everson Griffen would bring a new dimension to their already-sturdy offensive line.

Griffen isn’t likely to re-sign with the Vikings. With several other dark horse contenders, Adam Patrick of Vikings Age noted that Griffen has been among the best defensive ends in the league over the past few seasons.

“Griffen was promoted to the Vikings starting defense in 2014 and since then, he’s accumulated the third-most sacks of any defensive end in the league,” Patrick wrote. Those are impeccable stats that would help the team take their line to the next level.

With the additions of Emmanuel Sanders and Cesar Ruiz, the offense should be much-improved from last season. Now, this team will look to get their defense to that same level.

That said, let’s dive into three reasons why the Saints should consider Griffen a top offseason target in a market that’s dried up since free agency’s commencement in March.
