James Washington, WR, Steelers

Wide receiver James Washington out of Pittsburgh could be an offseason trade target. With the Steelers not projected to be the best team in the AFC North, the team may also look to trade him during the season as well.

Last season, Washington recorded 735 yards on 44 receptions. That was his second season in the league and on the opposite side of Juju Smith-Schuster, Washington was starting to find his rhythm.

Washington would make the perfect third-string receiver on the Saints, a position the young Tre’Quan Smith was hoping to fill. Would that warrant the team giving up a third-or-four-round pick for him?

FanSided’s Jordan Llanes dubbed Washington as the player the Saints should trade for.

“He’s a fast, physical receiver who runs good routes. Those are all things Sean Payton values in his offense. It would probably take a Day 2 pick to acquire him but the Saints have never been afraid of dealing picks before. This shouldn’t stop them either,” Llanes wrote.

Washington has the intangibles Payton would love, and he would shore up the long-term future of Michael Thomas’s sidekick. That’s why they may look to do it.
