RB, Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara is a unique situation. Like all the rest, Kamara’s contract is up at the end of the season too. However, he has a feature that none of the rest does — he might hold out if he doesn’t get a new contract.

It is often seen in running backs in the NFL nowadays to hold out, or not play for their team in a contract season until they get re-signed. This is mainly so that they don’t have to possibility to get hurt before they can get their money.

While it makes sense, it is still a detriment to the team. Therefore, the Saints will have to decide if Kamara is worth his new contract long before they will have to make the same decision with the other contracts.

If Kamara is to hold out and the Saints opt to not pay him, they should look to get as much as they can out of him. I know that sounds bad, but it beats him just leaving and the Saints being left with nothing besides a huge gap in the salary cap.
