Latavius Murray

The obvious first replacement for Alvin Kamara would be Latavius Murray. He is the current backup to Kamara so the Saints wouldn’t have to spend more money to sign someone else if Murray were to fill in.

In fact, Murray was the one who filled in in the aforementioned injury Kamara had last season. In those two games, Murray rushed for 221 yards on 48 carries with 3 touchdowns. He also added 14 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown in the air.

That wasn’t Murray’s first rodeo in the starting role either. He spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings as their starting running back as well. He was quite productive during those years in his career before joining the Saints in a backup role.

In his best season in Oakland, he ran for over 1,000 yards and six touchdowns. In Minnesota, he ran for 842 yards and eight touchdowns. He has what it takes to be the starter in New Orleans if Kamara goes down.
