Elite playmakers on the defense

Dennis Allen has elite playmakers at his disposal, and he continues to find ways to put them in the best position to succeed.

Dennis Allen should look to improve his defense with All-Pro players and talented defenders added in the offseason. Captain of the defense, Demario Davis unleashed havoc on opposing players last year and achieved first-team all-pro.

Pro Football Focus took notice of Davis’s stardom by grading Davis as the best linebacker out of every player at his position a year ago. With Davis being an established presence at one of the most critical positions on the field, expect the Saints defense to make lots of plays from his talent and leadership.

Cameron Jordan, who recently turned 31, turned in his most prominent season last year by recording 15.5 sacks and earning 2nd team All-Pro.

Cameron Jordan is another established veteran who performs at a high level, year after year. Jordan, who has made the pro bowl five times and first-team all-pro once in 2017, will look to continue harassing quarterbacks come this season.

According to Pro Football Reference, the most mind-boggling statistic is that Cam Jordan hasn’t missed a game in his nine-year career. With nothing hold Cam Jordan off the field, expect an elite pass rush coming off the edge for a full slate of 16 games.

The Saints added an elite, veteran presence in the secondary this off-season, by the name of Malcolm Jenkins.

Malcolm Jenkins is coming over from Philadelphia, and he’s a force to be dealt with. Dennis Allen will have plenty of ways to deploy Jenkins, as he has experience playing single-high safety, slot corner, outside linebacker, and strong safety.

With Davis in the linebacking corps, Jordan upfront, and Jenkins in the back end, expect not only a lot of plays to be made but also communication to be very clear and the intensity to be high from these veteran studs.
