Chris Jones, DT

Patrick Mahomes made a monumental deal this week that might affect the next offseason for the Chiefs. When you sign a half-billion-dollar contract, you have to expect that you won’t be able to re-sign some other superstars on your team.

Chris Jones is going to be one of the fatalities to Mahomes’ contract. Currently, Jones makes about $16 million per year. They will not be able to re-sign him at the end of the 2020 season — in steps the Saints.

Only going into his fifth season, Jones has already racked up 33.0 sacks. His highest season total is 15.5 which matches the likes of defensive end Cameron Jordan. He was also selected to last year’s Pro Bowl. He is worth the money for the Saints.

The Saints are also losing Sheldon Rankins too in that offseason. They will just be able to use the money they would have to sign Rankins and turn it to Chris Jones who would be a monster on the Saints defensive line.
