Shaquil Barrett, OLB

The New Orleans Saints have had linebacker problems for the last couple of years. Whether they have been injured or just simply not at the talent level the Saints expected them to be, they have had their issues.

Shaquil Barrett would be a player that the future of the linebacking core could be built off of. Current outside linebacker Demario Davis’s contract is up next year as well so it could be an offseason changing of the guard.

In his first five seasons with the Denver Broncos, Barrett was never given the possibility to shine. He only started 15 games in those five years and never really produced any stats worthy of a dream player — until he came to Tampa Bay.

Last season, his first in Tampa Bay, Barrett was given that opportunity and started all 16 games. The result was miraculous. He totaled career highs in everything — 19.5 sacks, 58 tackles (19 for a loss), 37 hits on the quarterback, and six forced fumbles.
