Demario Davis

Demario Davis has been an absolute force since he came from New York during the 2017 offseason. Davis has steadily become the best free-agent signing since Drew Brees.

Davis has been the Saints leading tackler during his tenure. He’s been the team’s captain and was named All-Pro first team in 2019. Despite being named an All-Pro and belonging to the group of 28 players selected with that honor, Davis failed to garner enough votes for a Pro Bowl selection.

Pro Football Focus graded Davis out as the best linebacker in 2019. Davis has improved his playmaking ability in all phases over the past couple of years.

According to Pro-Football Reference, Davis improved his missed tackle rate from 11.3% to a ridiculous 4.3%, and in pass coverage, the passer rating against Davis dropped from 111.6 to 75.8. Davis is on the path to continue his success as the Saints have built upfront to help Davis out.

The Saints re-signed starting defensive tackle, David Onymeta to a three-year, $27 million contract and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins will look to return healthy after missing six games, so these additions will look to free up more lanes for the imposing linebacker.

Davis will strive not to be a Pro Bowl snub, once again. With the Saints battling against Tom Brady twice, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers, on these big stages, expect Davis to attract more national attention as he hopes to continue his rising career.
