Sammy Watkins, WR

The Saints have always needed help at the wide receiver position. The team basically begged for production last year from anyone not named Michael Thomas. They ended up signing Emmanuel Sanders in the offseason to help with the problem.

However, Sanders is only a short-term bandaid to place over the real issue. Sammy Watkins on the other hand, a five-year NFL veteran, has to potential to be a five to seven-year player for the Saints’ in the future.

If Tre’Quan Smith can’t step up, he could be the perfect long-term solution.

Watkins production has been on a downward snowball since his first couple of years in the league with a minimal rising last year. Watkins did show us, though, in his first seasons, the potential that the youngster has.

In his second season, Watkins went for over 60 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards. With Mahomes’ massive contract, Watkins might be one of the victims of the Chiefs’ new restricted salary cap.
