Reason No. 2 the Saints should trade for Njoku: His Talent and Potential.

David Njoku could be the speedy threat that the Saints haven’t had at tight end since they let Jimmy Graham go years ago. Since the likes of Graham, the Saints have bounced around with different tight ends almost every year.

However, the did prove that with Brees, the coaching staff that the Saints have, Njoku could be a star. His numbers in Cleveland don’t point to star and that is probably why the Browns ended up signing Austin Hooper.

The Browns never gave Njoku the opportunity to succeed though. In three years, Njoku has only been targeted 158 times. To compare, the Saints targeted Jimmy Graham 406 times in the last three years he was with the team.

Even with Cook, New Orleans had Graham and Benjamin Watson and both tight ends saw over 100 targets in two different seasons. The Saints run an offense, like the Patriots, that can support the success of two different star tight ends.

Njoku could easily see career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns with the Saints next year.
