Tre’Quan Smith

The team’s third-round draft pick in 2018, Tre’Quan Smith has two seasons under his belt.

In both, Keith Kirkwood and Smith were praised coming into the season and then struggled to stay on the field and produce. The Saints let Kirkwood walk, and they’ll do the same with Smith if he doesn’t come to life soon.

Entering 2020 healthy, this should be a season in which Smith can finally live up to expectations. With the addition of Emmanuel Sanders, this team will be craving another option to complete their three-man sets, and it should be Smith to at least start the season.

Smith had a solid rookie campaign, totaling 427 yards and 5 touchdowns in 15 appearances and 7 starts. In 2019, the oft-injured Smith was not the same.

Most would consider him a bust as of now, but the 24-year-old will continue to be given chances. In what could be Drew Brees’ last season, Smith, both for himself and the team, needs to his stride, and I believe he’ll in some fashion come to life in 2020.
