Alshon Jeffrey

Now we move to snagging a wide receiver to give Drew Brees even another threat on the edge. For this potential trade, the Saints would bring in Alshon Jeffrey. Jeffrey’s numbers have dwindled during his three seasons with the Eagles.

From nine touchdowns to six to four, Jeffrey has continued to disappoint as his Philadelphia Eagles have struggled to maintain their high standards. That said, with a quarterback that has pinpoint accuracy, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound receiver could be an elite target.

A former Pro Bowler, Jeffrey is making just under eight figures this season and then just over that much next season. The cap hit that he has would be brutal so the Saints would need to make sure this is the right option.

The Saints have Tre’Quan Smith, a former third-round pick who has yet to really thrive in the NFL, as their No. 3 receiver.

If he can’t figure it out within the first few weeks of the season, the team could look elsewhere to continue to enhance their core, continuing to relieve some pressure of 2019’s best receiver, Michael Thomas.

Given his cap hit, Jeffrey doesn’t have much trade value right now.

Saints receive: Alshon Jeffrey

Eagles receive: 2021 fourth-round pick
