Stephon Gilmore

The New England Patriots had the league’s best defense last season. It was led by Stephon Gilmore, arguably the best cornerback in the NFL. Gilmore had six interceptions and two touchdowns last season.

In 2017, Gilmore signed a massive five-year, $65 million deal. That deal had an eight-figure signing bonus. Almost half that deal was guaranteed too, making it one of the best cornerback contracts in the league.

Gilmore’s six interceptions led the league and so did his 20 pass deflections. He was the staple for the Patriots defense, and as the Pats look to end their decades-long reign as contenders without a solid quarterback option, Gilmore could want out.

Now, the Saints could bring in Gilmore. It would be a massive deal with multiple picks, but at least the Pats could look towards the future with the open cap. Gilmore’s immense value would be hard to snag, but if the Saints come with an overwhelming offer, the Pats should cave.

Then, just think about Lattimore and Gilmore as the team’s cornerbacks. It would be game over for opposing receivers.

Saints receive: CB Stephon Gilmore

Patriots receive: 2021 second-round pick, 2022 third-round pick
