Number Two: The Saints will have a top-five defense

In 2019, the New Orleans Saints had the number eleven overall defense in the NFL. The team allowed on average just over 333 yards per game and 21.3 points per game. Those are some numbers that the unit in 2020 would surely like to improve on.

The Saints have all the tools to be one of the top defense in 2020. The Saints are returning eight out of eleven starters in 2019 and the guys that left were replaced by better talent. The Saints are replacing linebacker AJ Klein with the rookie phenom Zack Baun.

The team is replacing cornerback Eli Apple with veteran star Janoris Jenkins who the Saints signed late last season. The final replacement the team is making on the starting lineup is safety Vonn Bell being replaced by Malcolm Jenkins.

The defense also added great depth with Margus Hunt, Malcolm Roach, and Anthony Chickillo all being added to the defensive line and Joe Bachie Jr being added to the linebacker corps.

Deatrick Nichols adds great depth to the cornerback position and will compete with undrafted free agents Tino Ellis and Keith Washington for a roster spot. New Orleans defense is loaded with talent and will surely compete for a top-five total defense spot.
