Number Two: Malcolm Roach

Malcolm Roach is a defensive tackle who played his college football with the Texas Longhorns.

Roach, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound run stuffer, can play multiple positions on the defensive line and actually reminds me a lot of current Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins because they have a similar stature, similar speed, and they can both get to the quarterback.

Roach proved he has what it takes to play at a high level throughout his career in college.

While at Texas, Roach logged 130 total tackles, 83 solo tackles, 22.5 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, and three passes defended. Roach is a very technically sound defensive tackle and will push guys like Shy Tuttle and Taylor Stallworth to improve to keep their roster spots.

Roach may not be handed the job due to the incredible depth the New Orleans Saints have at the defensive tackle position, but he will certainly make his case to make the team. Given the injury history at the position, seeing Roach make the final cut shouldn’t shock anyone.
