Availability of solid backup

The perk of holding out is it shows your value. Any player in a contract year wants their value on clear display so that they can get that next contract or a lofty extension. Well, in Kamara’s case, the Saints would likely be just fine if he missed several games.

While he’s oftentimes the heartbeat of the offense and is a great addition, Latavius Murry, who the team signed last offseason and has three years left on his contract, is an underrated player. Murray was excellent when Kamara missed time last season.

When given over 20 touches, a mere two games, Murray put up over 100 yards in each. Let’s not confuse things now — Murray is not the long-term solution. But, he doesn’t have to be as quality running backs hit the market every offseason and are drafted every April.

They need a player that can this team to the next level and succeed with Drew Brees’ running the show. Ideally, that’s Kamara, but if it has to be Murray, this team will still be ready to dominate the NFC South.
