The New Orleans Saints could be fearful that Alvin Kamara will holdout ahead of the 2020 season, but it continues to seem more and more unlikely.

Within the past few weeks, the Minnesota Vikings watched their star running back Dalvin Cook say that without an extension he may hold out. The Saints could easily and understandably see the same from Alvin Kamara.

Kamara is a three-time Pro Bowl running back entering the last season of his contract. Given that he’s been able to amass over 4,000 all-purpose yards throughout his first three years in the league, Kamara may feel that he’s worthy of a high-value contract extension.

However, it’s not necessarily about the size of the original contract anymore, but it’s more about the size of the guaranteed money that is put into the deal. Kamara, like Cook, will likely be chasing at least an eight-figure per year extension.

The Saints have potentially freed up some money to pay Kamara or Marshon Lattimore as they’ve yet to use the $8 million freed up from the release of guard Larry Warford.

Could Kamara see that money? Will he hold out if he doesn’t?

That being said, let’s dive into three reasons why Kamara shouldn’t hold out in order to get a new contract.
