Number One: Clay Matthews

Clay Matthews is one of the top linebackers left on the free-agent market, and he could be a nice option for the New Orleans Saints. Matthews, a former first-round pick by the Green Bay Packers, has had a great career and could see himself in Canton someday.

Matthews brings great stability and leadership to the linebacker position the Saints need more help at.

They have Demario Davis, Alex Anzalone, and Kiko Alonso for one more season before they have to make some tough decisions, but Matthews could easily step up and replace Alonso as the starting outside linebacker and compete with the young rookie in Zack Baun.

Matthews has logged 519 career tackles, 130 tackles for a loss, 200 quarterback hits, 91.5 sacks, 17 forced fumbles, 44 passes defended, six interceptions, and three defensive touchdowns.

Clay Matthews can still play at a high level and would bring a lot of valuable knowledge and experience to the New Orleans linebacker corps.

Matthews knows what it takes to get to the Super Bowl and win it, as he’s won a ring with the Green Bay Packers. His six Pro Bowl nods would provide valuable experience to the Saints linebacker group.
