The Defense:

The New Orleans Saints defense lost A.J. Klein and Eli Apple this offseason but gained a more playbook-knowledgeable Janoris Jenkins and a huge addition of returning safety Malcolm Jenkins.

The Big Easy hasn’t seen this much talent in perhaps our lifetime, and more reason for Brees to succeed with this help.

We are used to seeing the defense give up some big plays and have Brees throwing us into wins, but a better defense means less chances of having to throw low percentage passes to make up ground and play more steady. This means Brees to Thomas all day.

Sure, Brees’ numbers may dip based on not having to put up as many points with a great defense, but wins, passing percentage, and big moments will have a better chance to show why he should be considered for MVP.

Here are the potential 2020 New Orleans Saints defensive starters:

LDE: Cameron Jordan
LDT: Sheldon Rankins
RDT: Malcom Brown
RDE: Marcus Davenport
WLB: Demario Davis
MLB: Kiko Alonso
SLB: Alex Anzalone
LCB: Janoris Jenkins
SS: Malcolm Jenkins
FS: Marcus Williams
RCB: Marshon Lattimore

That’s impressive, and certainly a reason Brees could thrive in 2020.
