Throw 40 touchdowns

Drew Brees has neared 40 touchdowns several times throughout his illustrious career, but he’s only eclipsed the mark twice.

With a few new faces that should help enhance the roster, Brees could easily see his dominance increase even more. While tossing even 30 touchdowns is reason to celebrate, Brees needs to set his goal a bit loftier than he has in the past few seasons.

In 2019, Brees threw 27 touchdowns. However, he missed five games. While it would’ve been tough, he could’ve hit 40 last year. If you prorate what he did do, Brees would’ve been sitting at just over 39 touchdowns.

He’s been able to age so well because he’s accurate, and with Sanders on the edge, there’s no reason to think the additional speed mixed with his accuracy won’t significantly help his numbers.

Both times Brees threw for over 40 touchdowns he led the league. It’s doubtful that’d do it in a league that’s seemingly getting only more offensive-minded though. Either way, Brees notching 40 touchdowns is certainly possible and should be a goal he attempts to hit.
