Should the Saints sign Everson Griffen?

Everson Griffen is a litter older, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. His market value is a little less than Clowney, and he offers more leadership. The key is being willing to take less to be on a contending team.

Everson Griffen last season totaled 8.0 sacks, 41 tackles, and 24 hits on the quarterback in 15 starts — that is better than Clowney’s last season. In Griffen’s best season, he totaled 13.0 sacks, 45 tackles, and 25 hits on the quarterback.

Griffen has surpassed 10.0 sacks in three seasons and has gone passed 20 hits on the quarterback in six seasons. Griffen might be older, but he offers more to the Saints right now then Jadeveon Clowney does.

When it comes down to it, they are both superstars at the position. They would both offer more potential than Marcus Davenport and even add some leadership. However, I think Everson Griffen offers more to the win-now mentality that the Saints currently have.
