3 reasons extending Alvin Kamara is a no-brainer for the Saints

Number Two: His Role Could Increase

Drew Brees is likely on his last ride and some other key pieces on the Saints’ roster could also be shifting.

The Saints need to bring back Kamara and keep a steady, reliable running back on the roster as the team gears up for a Super Bowl run, while also focusing on the future of the franchise. He would cement them as a contender for as long as he’s in the Big Easy.

Once Brees hangs up the cleats, I could see the Saints turning to the run and screen game quite a bit to help ease the transition of whoever Drew’s successor is.

Kamara would thrive in a role that features him more and has already proven to be one of the best screen game running backs in the NFL. In 2019, Kamara was graded by Pro Football Focus with a 94.0 receiving grade on backfield screens.

Kamara has 16 receptions, 127 receiving yards, one touchdown, and forced six missed tackles on those screens.
