The New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara is heading into a contract season and could likely not be paid by the Saints.

Here we are again. Looking at trade packages to involve one of the New Orleans Saints star players. This is no easy task trying to navigate waters that, frankly, no Saints’ fan wants to ever have to ponder.

The thought of losing Alvin Kamara is a huge deal; but unfortunately, I think that next year this will be the case for two reasons. One, we are seeing a rise in star running backs holding out for a better deal and ending up on another team.

Le’Veon Bell, Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley — could this year be Kamara’s year. Secondly, we are also seeing a rise in teams not wanting to pay players, but instead, draft or sign younger, cheaper talent instead of paying the middle-aged vet millions of dollars.

Whatever it comes down to, the New Orleans Saints would have to have Kamara hold out for any of these to be possible. If he doesn’t, then they will likely enjoy what remaining time they have left with him on the field.
