The New Orleans Saints will be opening their 2020 season, as long as everything goes as planned, with a bang, taking on Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There’s no denying the New Orleans Saints have high expectations heading into the new year. They added an elite offensive lineman in the draft and brought much-needed players like Emmanuel Sanders this offseason.

The Saints are prepping for arguably their best roster in team history. This team will be dynamic at almost every position. That said, the season’s schedule, still about five months away, will be released tonight.

However, for the team’s first game, there’s no more waiting.

“New Orleans will open the season by playing host to Tampa Bay and new quarterback Tom Brady on Sept. 13 at 3:25 p.m.” Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported.

This will be a huge showdown.

For starters, it’ll test the Saints’ cornerbacks early on. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski will be primed to do damage, and with Tom Brady manning the ship, the Bucs will have one of the league’s most dominant defenses.

Malcolm Jenkins, Janoris Jenkins, Marshon Lattimore and the entire Saints’ secondary will have their work cut out for them. However, don’t expect the Bucs to be as fluid as they could be as this will be the newly-formed trios first game together.

The two games against the second-best team in the Saints’ division will be a few of the most telling games of the season. It’s already a two-team race between the Bucs and Saints for the NFC South.

Aside from the Bucs, New Orleans’ fans can be ready to see where games against top-tier teams like Green Bay, San Francisco and Kansas City appear on the schedule. Regardless of where they are, this team, primed for a Super Bowl run, will be ready for the challenge.

That said, kicking off the season against the Bucs will be a terrific first game for both teams, being able to gauge the trajectory of the season right from the start.
