Number Five: Jameis Winston, Gain

New Orleans Saints newly-signed quarterback Jameis Winston enters the 2020 NFL season with literally everything to gain. Winston, 26, is a former number one overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has had a very up and down career in the red and grey.

Other than a large pocketbook amount, Jameis Winston has everything to gain as far knowledge. He is coming off a season where he led the NFL in passing yards but chose to sign with the Saints to learn under Drew Brees and Sean Payton on a one-year, 1.1 million dollar contract.

If Brees goes down during the season, it’s hard to tell if the Saints will go with Taysom Hill or Winston, but the fact that he’ll get the opportunity to develop into a star signal-caller again could help him cash out like Teddy Bridgewater did following the 2019 season.

Nobody expects much from Winston at this point as he’ll settle into a backup role, one reason why he has everything to gain. If nobody is expecting much, he has the ability to learn and grow and prove everyone wrong and really shock some people.

The Saints seem uncertain about the future at the quarterback position after Drew Brees retires, but if all goes well, Jameis Winston could be their guy.
