Number Two: Tre’Quan Smith, Gain

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith enters the 2020 season with a lot to gain following a difficult 2019 campaign. Smith, 24, comes into the 2020 season as the number three wide receiver on the Saints’ depth chart.

Due to Tre’Quan Smith being listed as the number three receiver on the New Orleans depth chart following the signing of veteran Emmanuel Sanders, he has a prime opportunity to take advantage of matchups favoring him and his 6-foot-2 frame.

The average defensive back in the NFL is 5-foot-9, giving Smith an advantage of nearly half a foot. Smith also has the ability to learn under one of the most productive wide receivers in the modern era in Emmanuel Sanders and pick his brain in a non-pressure situation.

Smith had 18 receptions for 234 yards and five touchdowns in a limited role last season due to injuries but could look to have a breakout season. The former third-round pick needs to break out this season.

Tre’Quan Smith has a lot to gain in 2020 as nobody really has high expectations from him to succeed. If Smith can take advantage of the opportunity to learn behind Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, he could be the number two receiver of the future in the Big Easy.
