Cornerback

The only real change the New Orleans Saints made to the cornerback position in the offseason was the signing of ex-XFL cornerback Deatrick Nichols. While this is a good addition, according to ESPN, he currently sits 5th in the depth chart at cornerback.

Marshon Lattimore is really the only star at this position that the Saints have.

They had Eli Apple last year and ended up letting him walk in free agency after a very disappointing and injury-riddled season for the cornerback. He was in agreement on a contract with the Raiders till that fell through, putting the Saints’ project comp. pick in jeopardy.

However, they also added Janoris Jenkins toward the end of last year, and he was able to play two games with the Saints before their season ended in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. They did restructure his contract this year too.

However, the gap between Jenkins and Robinson as the No. 3 cornerback is a pretty far drop off. Because of that, if a starter were to go down, the replacement wouldn’t be as quality. They could do better in signing another cornerback.
