Number Three: Alex Anzalone

Alex Anzalone is a 25-year-old linebacker who has one year left on his current contract.

Anzalone is a very good linebacker when he’s healthy. That’s the issue though; he’s rarely healthy. He’s missed more games in his career (26) than he’s played in (22). The Saints need stability at the linebacker position and should look to deal Anzalone for a mid-to-late round pick.

There is an abundance of talent in the 2020 NFL Draft, even deep into the fifth or sixth round of the draft. If the Saints can deal Anzalone for a pick or two, that opens up more of an opportunity to replace him with healthy, cheaper, and more productive talent that can be acquired with a top pick.

Although Anzalone is a productive player, his injury history keeps him off the field and subsequently is wasting precious cap space. The Saints should look to deal the linebacker before he has no value.
