A.J. Terrell, Clemson

Mel Kiper, ESPN

The New Orleans Saints had concerns last year on the cornerback skill of their secondary. Marshon Lattimore was a star, but who is going to play next to him. They signed Janoris Jenkins last year, and he can be a short-term solution.

Here is what Kiper had to say on his selection.

“I wrote last week that there is a big drop-off after the top two corners in this class, at least on my board. I have first-round grades on only two corners. That doesn’t mean, however, that teams see it the same way, and Terrell has been getting some first-round buzz.

New Orleans desperately has to upgrade with young talent at the cornerback position. Terrell is physically gifted — he ran a 4.42 40-yard dash at 6-foot-1 — though he had an inconsistent 2019 season.”

A.J. Terrell could be the future in the secondary for the Saints. He had a great career in Clemson and as Kiper put it, there is a shortlist of good cornerbacks in this year’s NFL Draft to even consider in the first round.
