The New Orleans Saints look ready to bring in a quarterback during the draft, and if they love Jordan Love, he could easily be the QB the Saints invest the future in.

You could almost put money on the fact that the New Orleans Saints will sign another quarterback.

They re-signed Drew Brees, a future first-ball Hall of Famer, but that’s far from enough to keep the team’s peace of mind in case anything, like a five-game absence due to an injured thumb, happened to him in 2020.

Taysom Hill is great, but with under 15 passes in two seasons and a chunk of time having been on the field in a wide array of positions, there’s no good reason to believe he can captain the quarterback position full time.

While the long-term play may be to transition Hill to quarterback, there should, at the very least, be competition.

Jordan Love could provide that, and with the physical presence that he has, Love, although not leading Utah State to relevance in college, is seen as a top prospect for the upcoming draft. Love is a projected first-round pick but where is that first round is relatively unknown.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper, in his most recent mock draft (premium content), has Love going No. 19 overall. Love is really the only top-tier quarterback that’s expected to slide all the way down to around the Saints pick at No. 24.

They could trade up for him.

Teams like Dallas at No. 17 could easily be in the market to swap their first-round pick with the Saints. After all, in his all-trades mock draft, ESPN columnist Bill Barnwell noted that the Cowboys and Saints flipping picks could be ideal for both parties.

The Saints are clearly already enamored with Love, having held a virtual meeting with him. If he’s that valuable to them, they’ll trade up for him, and getting into a position where drafting Love is possible shouldn’t be too difficult.

We don’t know just how much New Orleans likes Love, but if he’s among their top quarterbacks given his cannon arm, they’ll make the move, one such trade fans should be on the look for come draft night.
