Drew Brees should take Tom Brady’s advice, make Drew Orleans shirts
Tom Brady is now in Drew Brees’ division. The reigning NFC South champion Saints will have new competition as the division has improved this offseason.
Adding a player of Tom Brady’s caliber to a division is certain to raise its standards. Well, for Drew Brees, it may not only raise the competition in the division, but it may also be a wake-up call to start pursuing different business venues.
Brees, who helped deliver a Super Bowl to the city in 2009, has been one of the most consistent yet polarizing superstars for a mid-major market. However, he’s done little to market his brand in the community.
Upon arrival in Tampa Bay, Tom Brady, who really didn’t have many ties to the fanbase, started to do just that. Given the popular opinion that Brady is the best to ever throw the ball, his popularity immediately sparked interest in any product that he brought to the table.
Brady is starting a quest to trademark the “Tompa Bay” and “Tampa Brady” just weeks after officially signing with the Bucs.
A potentially multi-million dollar venture, Brady’s ideal behind this apparel seems like a strong business decision and one that could easily be replicated by superstars that have strong ties to their cities.
A city of almost 400,000, New Orleans is the heart of Louisiana, and Drew Brees is the heart and soul of their famed football team. Having been with the team through 2006, Brees was an integral part of rebuilding New Orleans spirit following hurricane Katrina.
That’s all just to say that the city would certainly look into buying merch that is specific to Brees. Tom Brady proposes that Brees looks into trademarking “Drew Orleans.” To be fair, you know you’d consider buying a Drew Orleans-themed shirt.
At the very least, I know that I’d want a shirt showing off a top-five quarterback of all time.
