Round 3: #88 Overall

The New Orleans Saints do not currently own a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, so in the third round, I have the Saints selecting Jalen Hurts, a quarterback from Oklahoma.

Jalen Hurts is a 6-foot-1, 222-pound quarterback who has an unbelievable skillset and should be able to nicely transition his game to the next level.

The 2020 NFL Draft class is loaded with talent, which is exactly why a player of Hurts’ caliber is projected to be available this late in the draft. Jordan Love, Justin Herbert, and Joe Burrow lead the 2020 NFL Draft class but under the radar prospects who would usually be first or second-round picks will slide to the later rounds.

More from Who Dat Dish

Hurts had an outstanding career in college, a career better than most in the history of college football.

Hurts completed over 65 percent of his career passes for 9,477 yards. Hurts also tossed 80 touchdown passes and only 20 interceptions in his career. Hurts proved he can be a factor on the ground as well.

Hurts ran the ball 614 times for 3,274 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns. Hurts also had five receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown to go along with it. Hurts can do literally anything he’s asked to do and will be an unbelievable NFL quarterback.

The Saints have a need at quarterback as well.

Drew Brees signed a two-year deal but is likely to retire at the conclusion of the 2020 season. Taysom Hill has one year left on his deal with absolutely no competition as the backup quarterback.

Jalen Hurts is the kind of player, having proven his resilence at OU, who can come into New Orleans and compete with Taysom Hill for the starting job. The Saints shouldn’t hesitate to draft Jalen Hurts if he is available in the third round.
