Round One: #24 Overall

In the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, I think the New Orleans Saints should select Kenneth Murray, a linebacker out of Oklahoma. Murray is a 6-foot-2, 241-pound linebacker who plays aggressively and tackles extremely well.

At the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, Murray ran a 4.52 forty yard dash while banging out 21 bench press reps as well. He also had a vertical jump of 38 inches and a broad jump of 129 inches — all combining to be solid numbers for a linebacker.

Kenneth Murray had an outstanding college football career as the Sooners’ best linebacker. Murray compiled 325 total tackles, 176 solo tackles, 36.5 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks, six passes defended, one forced fumble, and two fumbles recovered.

Murray mentioned at his Pro Day that he watches a lot of film on Bobby Wagner and Luke Kuechly and strives to play like them when he takes the field. If he has the NFL success they had, watch out.

Adding an athletic, fast, and smart linebacker like Kenneth Murray to the Saints defense will provide dominant defensive success for years to come as three of the team’s starters are set to hit the open market next offseason.

He will also get to learn alongside one of the NFL’s best linebackers in Demario Davis. Kenneth Murray certainly has a bright future and the Saints should look to draft him if he is available at pick number 24.
