Reggie Bush

2006 NFL Draft, No. 2 overall

Reggie Bush was the most sought after running back coming out of the University of Southern California. The New Orleans Saints needed a running back and were in prime position to pick the Trojan star.

Bush went on to play 11 seasons in the NFL, but only five of them were with the Saints. During his years with the Saints, Bush never elapsed 600 yards rushing in a single season or double-digit rushing touchdowns.

In fact, Bush’s best season wasn’t even with the Saints but the first year he left. In 2011 and 2013, Bush surpassed 1,000 yards rushing with the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions respectively.

Being the No. 2 selection overall in a draft and the most coveted running back, your professional numbers have to be better than that. Notable running backs drafted after Bush include Panthers’ DeAngelo Williams; Colts, Joseph Addai; and Jaguars, Maurice Jones-Drew.

Bush was one of the most elusive players to ever play the game, but his talent just didn’t necessarily translate to production.
