Re-signed Drew Brees: A+

With the amount of Super Bowl-caliber talent still remaining on the Saints roster, it was quite obvious that the Saints weren’t ready to move on from Drew Brees quite yet.

Brees, a 41-year-old quarterback, is the Saints’ best player in franchise history and leads the Saints (and the NFL in most circumstances) in just about every notable passing category.

The Saints brought back Drew Brees on a team-friendly deal worth 50 million dollars over the next two years. Drew will likely be done after this season though as Sean Payton believes this will be the last year for Brees.

Drew Brees also agreed to restructure his contract to create more cap space earning just two million dollars as his base salary next season.

Considering his recent donation of five million dollars to help cure the coronavirus and help feed families in need, he’s basically playing next season for free.

Brees, a 13-time Pro Bowler, completed 74.3 percent of his passes in 2019 for 2,979 yards and 27 touchdowns. Bringing back Drew Brees tidies up their quarterback problem for one more season before the Saints have to reevaluate.
