Number Three: Backup Quarterback

The New Orleans Saints currently only have two quarterbacks on the roster: future Hall of Famer Drew Brees and Taysom Hill who currently has a first-round tender pinned to his name.

Sean Payton has been vocal about his firm belief in Taysom Hill being the future of the franchise, but many Saints fans wonder due to his lack of experience at the position. In college as a full-time starter, Hill suffered four season-ending injuries and it’s difficult to believe he’d be able to hold up for an entire NFL season.

The Saints need to prioritize acquiring a reliable backup and someone who can compete with Taysom Hill for the starting job.

Former NFL MVP, Cam Newton, really needs nothing more than a change of scenery and a coach who cares to get his career turned back around, and New Orleans could do just that. The Saints could also opt to draft a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. A player like Jalen Hurts or James Morgan would fit nicely in the big easy.

The Saint’s final piece to the puzzle is a quarterback to study behind Drew Brees for a year or two and compete with Taysom Hill for the starting job following Drew’s retirement.
