Number Two: Adding Linebacker Depth

The New Orleans Saints came into the 2020 offseason with three major needs: wide receiver help, secondary depth, and linebacker depth.

The Saints addressed two of those needs but left a vacancy at the linebacker position. AJ Klein departed after hitting the open market and the Saints re-signed Noah Spence who plays more defensive end than linebacker.

There is obviously still a major need at the linebacker position as they currently have five linebackers set to hit the free-agent market next year including Demario Davis, Alex Anzalone, Kiko Alonso, Noah Spence, and Craig Robertson.

The Saints need to prioritize acquiring some long-term talent at the position. Someone like Darron Lee or Alec Ogletree could be signed to add some depth for cheap. The Saints could also build their linebacker corps through the draft as there is quite a bit of depth in the Class of 2020.

The Saints could really use the added depth at the linebacker position this season so that it’s not an issue next offseason.
