Andrus Peat

If you asked any New Orleans Saints’ fan what they wanted to do with Andrus Peat, 90% of them would have told you to let him go and sign elsewhere and try to replace him in free agency. That was even my opinion as well.

However, the fact of the matter is, while this signing might not make sense to most Saints’ fans, Andrus Peat was the best remaining player at his position on the line. When it comes down to it, this signing was necessary for the betterment of the team.

Not only was Peat the best offensive lineman still out there, but he knows the offense better than any other lineman the Saints could have signed. The biggest concern with Peat is his durability. Can he continue to stay injury-free?

It doesn’t matter, the Saints dealt with it last year and they already have plans in place in case it happens again. No matter how many Saints fans this signing made unhappy, it was the right thing to do for the team, and it is part of what is making the team Super Bowl favorites.
