Number Two: Signing of Emmanuel Sanders

The New Orleans Saints signed wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to a two-year, $16 million dollar contract this offseason and it gives the Saints instant relief in an area of need.

Sanders, 33, has put together a solid career and will be a great partner alongside NFL Offensive Player of the Year Michael Thomas in the New Orleans offense. The two-time Pro Bowler adds a veteran mentorship factor that he also played during his time in San Francisco with the 49ers.

Sanders has reached the playoffs five times in his ten-year career, making it to the Super Bowl twice and winning one as a member of the Denver Broncos. Sanders has never really been a number one wide receiver except for his short tenure with the San Francisco 49ers.

Sanders has 601 receptions, 7,893 receiving yards, over 1,300 return yards, over 150 rushing yards, and 43 total touchdowns in his career.

He is a do it all type of athlete who brings veteran leadership along with him. Sanders gives Drew Brees steady hands and a reliable, consistent receiver alongside Michael Thomas.

Sanders has reached the Super Bowl for all three teams he’s played on (Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers), and will look to continue that trend with the New Orleans Saints.
