Number Three, Trumaine Johnson

Trumaine Johnson is a 6-foot-2 cornerback who was recently released by the New York Jets following the signing of Brian Poole.

Johnson, 30, has had a successful career personally but has always played for below-average teams. Johnson has solid numbers in his NFL career, logging 392 tackles, eleven tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 74 passes defended, 23 interceptions, and four defensive touchdowns.

Johnson has played effectively even at age 30.

In 2019, he only played seven games due to an injury but still managed to have 25 tackles, one tackle for a loss, two passes defended, and one interception. The former third-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams would provide a veteran presence the Saints seem to be leaning towards following the signing of Malcolm Jenkins and the retaining of Kiko Alonso and Patrick Robinson.

Johnson could opt to sign with a team like the Saints to contend for a Super Bowl and be willing to take a lesser role within the organization to do so.
