LB- Devon Kennard

Devon Kennard was released by the Detroit Lions on March 17th as an attempt to create more cap space.

Kennard, a 6-foot-3 256-pound linebacker was a fifth-round pick back in 2014 by the New York Giants and played with the Giants from 2014 through 2017 before signing with the Detroit Lions.

The veteran linebacker played over eighty percent of the Lions’ defensive snaps in his two years there and was primarily used as an edge rusher to help bring pressure.

Kennard has had a solid career thus far racking up 307 tackles, 41 tackles for a loss, 23.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, five fumbles recovered, eight passes defended, one interception, and one defensive touchdown.

Kennard is a pretty reliable and cheap option especially for a cap-strapped team with a need a linebacker like the New Orleans Saints.

His lack of being a superstar makes him affordable and he’s the kind of player that would thrive in Dennis Allen’s defense. Adding Devon Kennard to the Saints would be a smart signing for both parties involved.
