Byron Jones

The Dallas Cowboys would franchise their entire team if they had the option. However, they were faced with the difficulty of having star quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver Amari Cooper, and cornerback Byron Jones all free agents this year.

They decided to tag Dak Prescott and then later re-signed Amari Cooper. That move left Byron Jones as the odd man out and the most likely to leave. During this two day period, Jones did just that — left.

The New Orleans Saints had cornerback problems last year with current free agent Eli Apple. After Apple went down with an injury, they signed Janoris Jenkins who proved to be of value, but he is still no Byron Jones.

However, the reason that the Saints didn’t pull the trigger and sign the cornerback could have been that they think Jenkins has what they need to fill that position. He also demanded a healthy-sized check which is why Dallas couldn’t retain him, that could have been part of the problem.
